Environment Engineer Total Energies

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide technical guidance to other entities on all aspects of ESIA compliance and ensure effective collaboration with departments including TotalEnergies Uganda Limited, H3SE metier, engineering, enabling infrastructure, construction, drilling, logistics and operations teams involved in project execution.
• Ensure compliance with conditions of approval for ESIAs and implementation of Company Management of Change process.
Develop and manage contactor scopes in relation to environmental studies, permitting and surveys.
• Monitor the development, review, submission and implementation of individual EIAs and project briefs that are required for project activities.
• Ensure that baseline data is reviewed on a regular basis and updated as and when required.
• Coordinate field teams engaged in field surveys, data collection and interpretation.
• Attend stakeholders’ engagements at local, district and national level with respect to ESIA compliance in line with project SEPs.
Cooperate with other entities to ensure that environmental permits, licenses, authorizations, notifications and consents (PLANC) are obtained in a timely manner.
• Develop, issue and maintain environmental and social management plans for all activities and sites.
• Prepare and present summary materials for stakeholder consultation meetings.
Participate in the development and execution of ESIA and IFC training materials for other entities.
• Cooperate with other company departments to ensure implementation of affiliate H3SE Plan and more specifically, the environment objectives contained therein.
• Maintain awareness of and ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and company H3SE standards for all project entities including contractors.
• Participate in the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of the affiliate H3SE management system in line with Good International Industry Practice and relevant management system standards.
• Coordinate efforts for quality assurance/control in all aspects of the implementation of monitoring, and evaluation programs, and ensuring appropriate levels of documentation at all stages.
• Contribute to building and maintaining an open and trusting relationship with authorities and regulatory agencies such as National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU), Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE), Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).

Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or related discipline.
• Typically, 3-5 years professional experience in an environment team in an operational setting (preferably oil and gas or other similar industry).
Thorough knowledge and understanding of Uganda national environmental legislation.
• Thorough understanding of globally accepted ESIA methods.
• Good understanding of Company Management System and ISO 14001.
• Good understanding of International best practices and standards e.g. IFC, IPIECA.
• Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Project Management skills.
• Strong report writing and analytical skills.
