Electrical Maintenance Supervisor Kakira Sugar Limited

Overall purpose of the job.
To carry out new installations and maintenance/repair of electrical systems and associated accessories to ensure high equipment availability for irrigation of sugarcane.

Key Responsibilities
1. Carryout new installations of electrical systems and related accessories according to design standards and procedures.
2. Conduct electrical repairs of motors, panels and centre pivots as per acceptable engineering standards.
3. Carry out diagnosis and root cause analysis of electrical failures on equipment such as centre pivots, motors and associated installations.
4. Carry out repair of low voltage powerlines or cables in liaison with Factory Electrical Engineers/Supervisors.
5. Develop preventative maintenance schedules for electrical installations
6. Initiate procurement of spares and ensure fast moving spares are readily available all the time as per agreed minimum stock levels
7. Issue out appropriate tools and instruments available to subordinates to enable themaccomplish the assigned jobs and tasks.
8. Supervise subordinates by allocation of tasks on a day-to-day basis and ensure adherence to company rules and regulations.
9. Maintain an up-to-date register of workshop tools and equipment
10. Keep appropriate records of all completed work, materials and any other related activities.
11. Maintain daily records of maintenance activities.
12. Keep daily records for all consumables related to the job
13. Monthly reports of related works carried out
14. Receive the previous day’s work reports and take corrective action on the negative aspects accordingly.
15. Enforce the safety, health and environment policies of the company to the subordinates.
16. Ensure pre-task risk assessments and permits are done for all major works before execution
17. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Irrigation Project Installation & Maintenance Manager/Management.

Knowledge, qualifications & Experience
Education: A Diploma in Electrical Engineering/Technology from a recognized Institution.
Experience, Skills and Competences: A minimum of three (3) years in electrical installation and maintenance or a similar job. Knowledge in different types electrical machines, electrical fitting skills, centre pivot electrical wiring skills. Good task allocation and supervisory skills, good record keeping, report writing skills and good communication skills
Communication Skills: The position demands constant interactions with employees, management, and stakeholders throughout the business and, therefore, communication skills are an absolute necessity.
Ms Office: A candidate for this position must be proficient in the use of Ms Word, Ms Excel, and PowerPoint, all necessary for the creation of not only visually but verbally engaging materials, reports, presentations, and proposals for departmental heads and management, stakeholders.
Analytical Skills: A candidate for this position must be capable of gathering and interpreting raw information and data, documenting findings, and drawing appropriate recommendations.
Interpersonal Skills: The candidate must be a helpful, calm and professional individual and demonstrate calmness during times of uncertainty.
People Skills: individual who is able to gunner the trust and respect of departmental heads and management.
