General Summary
The District HIV prevention and Key Population Program Officer will provide technical assistance to field office and HF staff and DHTs to ensure timely attainment and sustenance of quality HIV/AIDS prevention services especially those targeting key and priority populations

Key Responsibilities

• Design, monitor and report on key activities related to HIV/AIDS prevention scale up in the supported districts.
• Support mentoring activities for HCWs in relation to HIV /AIDS prevention services in supported districts especially those targeting key populations.
• Support roll out of National HIV treatment guidelines and other related guidelines in HIV/AIDS prevention services in the supported districts especially those targeting key populations.
• Provide on call/distance TA support for handling of complicated cases.
• Provide technical support in addressing adherence challenges in supported Health Facilities.
• Support Quality Assurance of HIV//AIDS prevention services in the supported districts especially those targeting key populations at facilities and recommend corrective action.
• Provide technical assistance in planning related to HIV/AIDS prevention services in supported districts especially those targeting key and priority populations.

Person Specification
• Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields; Social Sciences, Education, SWASA, Development Studies, Community and Adult Education, Community Psychology, Guidance and counseling or BSc. Nursing or Medicine
• Evidence of having attended specialized training in HIV/AIDS
• Active registration with the relevant professional body where necessary.
• Required experience and skills:
• At least 2 years’ experience in providing technical assistance and mentorship of HCWs in HIV/AIDS prevention within MoH structures and systems especially targeting key and priority populations.
• Comprehensive knowledge and experience in HIV/AIDS management and prevention.
• Good working knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention programs, strategies, processes and techniques used to plan, develop, implement and evaluate results of HIV/AIDS programs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Willingness to work and live in rural areas is required
