Pride For Youth Initiative is a leading nonprofit organization committed to advancing affirmative policies and social inclusion for sexual and gender minorities through the to fight for recognition, respect and protection of trans women human rights in Uganda, with a vision to having an ‘An informed, inclusive and educated Ugandan community where all transwomen sex workers are involved and accepted to access their social, economic and political rights in the fullness of their potential. PFYIN seeks to address issues preventing transwomen from fully enjoying their human rights like the rest of the population with a major focus on 4 thematic areas include; Health rights advocacy and health services delivery, Human and legal rights advocacy, economic Justice and institutional strengthening.

Organization Mission
To create an Ugandan society that understands and accepts different gender expressions and works to promote human rights, economic empowerment, and equal access to health services for Transwomen sex workers.

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Programs Officer to volunteer on our team. The Programs Officer will be responsible for Overseeing the planning, execution, and evaluation of various programs, events, and campaigns aimed at promoting LGBTIQ rights and inclusivity and ensuring compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement strategic plans for the organization’s programs and initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and goals.
2. Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of various programs, events, and campaigns aimed at promoting LGBTIQ rights and inclusivity.
3. Manage a team of program coordinators, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure the successful implementation of programs.
4. Collaborate with external stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and donors, to build partnerships and secure funding opportunities.
5. Monitor program budgets, track expenses, and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
6. Stay up-to-date with current trends, research, and best practices in the field of LGBTIQ rights and social justice, and incorporate them into program development and implementation.
7. Represent the organization at conferences, meetings, and public events, advocating for the rights and needs of the LGBTIQ community.

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of international development, social science, human rights, public policy is required. A master’s degree is preferred.
2. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in program management, preferably within the non-profit sector and/or LGBTIQ organizations.
3. Strong knowledge and understanding of LGBTIQ issues, including legal frameworks, social challenges, and advocacy strategies.
4. Proven experience in developing and implementing successful programs, campaigns, or initiatives.
5. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
6. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
7. Demonstrated ability to secure funding and manage program budgets.
8. Proficiency in project management tools and software.
