Masters Scholarship Opportunities 2024 – Mastercard Foundation Uganda

About the Program: The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, in partnership with Makerere University, is offering 1000 scholarships for both Undergraduate and Master’s Academic Programmes over a span of 10 years, from 2023 to 2034. The aim is to deepen inclusive University education and empower youth to become transformative leaders contributing to national and regional development.

Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship at Makerere University, applicants must meet the following conditions:

  1. Qualify for admission at Makerere University-Main Campus for a Master’s Degree Programme.
  2. Completed Bachelor’s Degree Studies in an African Country.
  3. Facing significant financial hardships.
  4. Demonstrate leadership potential and a record of community service.
  5. Not holders of any other Scholarship.
  6. Not registered for/completed any other master’s studies.
  7. Age limit: Not exceed 35 years of age at the time of the application deadline. Refugees and Students with Disabilities should not exceed 40 years.
  8. Refugee applicants must be recognized and registered refugees with proof (refugee attestation) attached to the application form.

Important Points to Note:

  • 70% of scholarships will be awarded to female applicants, while 30% will be for male applicants.
  • 25% of scholarships are reserved for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
  • 10% of scholarships are allocated to Youth with Disabilities.
  • Incomplete applications will be disqualified.
  • The program operates on merit principles with zero tolerance for dishonesty.
  • Impersonation, falsification of documents, or providing false/incomplete information will lead to automatic disqualification.
  • Makerere University warns against fraudsters and emphasizes that the application form is free of charge.
  • Only successful applicants will be notified.
  • Unsuccessful applicants should consider their application unsuccessful if they haven’t heard by August 16th, 2024.
  • Submission of an application form does not guarantee a scholarship.
