Job Summary:
The Nutrition Coordinator will provide leadership and technical oversight to MTI’s country Nutrition Program. They will ensure all aspects of the program cycle are carried out, including assessment, planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation of nutrition interventions. The role involves close coordination with other humanitarian actors and donors in nutrition and food security, as well as collaborating with senior nutrition officers to ensure maximum program impact.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate in defining, planning, organizing, and updating annual nutrition project activities and budgeting.
  • Collaborate with program manager, medical coordinator, and senior nutrition officers to ensure high program quality and compliance with donor requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance to MTI management and staff on nutrition-related activities.
  • Ensure close coordination with other humanitarian actors and donors in nutrition and food security.
  • Supervise nutritional research and ensure it is conducted according to protocols.
  • Track budget performance and advise management on budget-related matters.
  • Analyze HIS/HMIS data to drive decision-making and contribute to the preparation of reports.
  • Contribute to formulating concept notes while adhering to project submission deadlines.
  • Support senior nutrition officers in managing nutrition-related stocks.
  • Participate in trainings and represent Medical Teams at nutrition-related meetings.
  • Ensure nutrition activities are conducted with the highest level of integrity and ethics.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and enforce disciplinary procedures as per Medical Teams policy.
  • Ensure safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Licenses, & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science and Technology or a related field. A Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
  • Additional studies in Project Planning and Management or Monitoring and Evaluation are required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of nutrition field experience, inclusive of 3 years at a senior management level.
  • Experience working with UNHCR, WFP, other INGOs, and in emergency operations is an added advantage.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of nutrition principles, project cycle management, and donor guidelines.
  • Skills: Highly skilled in nutrition project planning, implementation, monitoring, and coordination. Skilled in conducting trainings, budget management, and using database systems.
  • Abilities: Keen desire to build staff capacity, highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities, and ability to support MTI Calling and adhere to the MTI Code of Conduct.

Physical Conditions:
This position requires some travel to health facilities located in remote areas with very basic living conditions.
