1. Study Nurse (2 Positions)

Description:
Makerere University Hospital, supported by Wellcome Leap, is implementing the “Stillbirth in High Burden Settings: Ample Room for Improvement Using Biomarkers and Ultrasound Technologies” (iTECH) project. The project aims to develop clinical tools to manage high-risk pregnancies and reduce stillbirths in Uganda and globally. The study nurses will be responsible for recruiting participants and administering study-related procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in protocol and SOP trainings
- Engage in study site entry visits and participant management
- Obtain written informed consent from eligible participants
- Administer study procedures (sample collection, data entry, patient follow-up)
- Monitor patient safety, offer care, and make referrals
- Provide counseling and psychosocial support
- Conduct assessments of maternal hemodynamics
- Perform QA/QC to ensure complete and accurate documentation
- Support community health workers and research assistants
- Assist in generating study progress reports
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Project Manager and Principal Investigator
Requirements:
- Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution
- Current registration with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council with an up-to-date practicing license
- Certificate in counseling
- Training in Good Clinical Practice and Human Subjects Protection Research
- Experience in a research environment is an added advantage
