Head of Legal, Risk, and Compliance ( Fresher Insurance Job ) – AAR Health Services (U) Limited

Job Summary: The Head of Legal, Risk, and Compliance will monitor and evaluate day-to-day regulatory compliance, support AHSU in meeting statutory and regulatory requirements, and establish an effective enterprise risk management framework.

Responsibilities:

Compliance:

  • Advise on compliance-related legislation affecting AHSU.
  • Coordinate the implementation of Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) recommendations across the business.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of IRA Circulars.
  • Monitor compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, identify areas for improvement, and detect significant unlawful practices and compliance breaches.
  • Conduct quarterly tests to assess compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and monitor the performance of a compliance plan/programme.
  • Assist in filing and monitoring regulatory returns, including IRA and company returns.
  • Engage and manage stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, board members, and senior management.

Risk Management:

  • Develop and maintain a risk management strategy for AHSU.
  • Develop and implement systems, policies, and procedures for the identification, collection, and analysis of risk-related information.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments across business and functional areas in line with the risk management framework.

Legal Advisory:

  • Review and provide legal advice on contracts, MOUs, and other documents.
  • Review and update policy documents or other legal binding documents related to the company’s business.
  • Prepare Board reports.
  • Provide legal advisory services to senior management and the company at operational and strategic levels.
  • Conduct regular assessments of key legal risks and advise on mitigating factors.
  • Manage internal and external complaints.
  • Provide regular training on legal and regulatory obligations, particularly for employees in high-responsibility or high-risk positions.
  • Facilitate confidential reporting by employees for concerns, shortcomings, or potential violations of internal policies, legal or regulatory obligations, or ethical considerations.
  • Liaise with all departments to ensure that legal risks are identified and appropriate actions are taken.
  • Provide and interpret legal information and disseminate appropriate legal requirements to all departments.
  • Review progress of outstanding litigation, manage claims recovery disputes, and liaise with external lawyers.

AML/CFT:

  • Analyze anti-money laundering (AML) activities and ensure accurate and timely reporting to the Financial Intelligence Authority.
  • Act as the Money Laundering Control Officer for AHSU.
  • Conduct investigations on all suspicious transactions.
  • Provide AML training for new and ongoing employees.

Feedback, Reporting & Escalation:

  • Report and resolve non-compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Immediately report material compliance-related matters to the line manager.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly compliance reports as required by the line manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in insurance, actuarial science, law, banking, finance, or a relevant discipline.
  • Professional diploma in risk management or actuarial science.
  • 3 years’ working experience in compliance or a relevant related discipline.
  • 4 years’ experience in senior management.
  • Proven team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to build personal and impartial relationships in the workplace.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven leadership skills and result-oriented.
  • Demonstrated confidentiality and integrity.
