Established 30 years ago as Biyinzika, BPIL has grown from small beginnings to a company with over 9?5 employees stationed in over 9 production sites. BPIL produces and distributes quality day-old chicks and HACCP certified animal feed through over 40 branches within Uganda and the East African region. BPIL also produces chicken meat products under the Pearl Chicken brand retailed directly through our 30 Pearl chicken shops. Pearl also supplies leading wholesale, retail and food service customers with quality Ugandan National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) certified products.
Job Summary: The Operations Manager – Commercial Broilers is responsible for the entire broiler operations section of the company including future broiler production sites.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strategically direct, manage and transition the operations of the broiler division.
- Plan, organize, communicate and execute the various broiler division activities
- Meet set KPI’s as per the strategic plan.
- Review all protocols for the operations’ broiler division.
- Develop a data-driven broiler operation
- Identify staff training and mentoring needs so there is a transfer of knowledge and skills development benefit Ensure 100% compliance to biosecurity requirements
- Develop daily, weekly, monthly reports that support the Agricultural Director get more visibility on the workings of the broiler operations
- Review and revise broiler SOPs then implement revised procedure so as to be operationally effective and aligned with relevant food safety requirements
- Work with the quality assurance team to develop a usable QA program that can be adopted through the broiler operations business
- Develop, train and recruit local broiler farm managers that strive to attain international broiler standards
- Engage new contract growers and ensure both new and current growers are trained, developed and monitored to perform to BPIL standards
- Maintain all poultry facilities and equipment in the best working condition Effect BEST PRACTICES and world class standards in operations broiler division as per broiler standard
- Drive the implementation of BPIL culture and values and lead by example throughout broiler department
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Degree in Animal Agriculture Science or related field Professional: Certified Poultry training and/or credentials is an added advantage
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior position in a similar role.
- High level of Integrity and honesty
- Data analysis, interpretation and swift decision-making
- Leadership skills with experience of managing a large staff complement
- Transfer of knowledge skills
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population
- Microsoft office suite and presentation skills
