Background:

IRC Uganda operates in sectors such as Child and Youth Protection, Health, Economic Recovery and Development, and Women’s Protection. Offices are located in Kampala, Kiryandongo, Lamwo, Moroto, Kyaka, and West Nile.

Job Overview:

The Supply Chain Officer – Procurement is responsible for coordinating the procurement function at the country office, ensuring timely servicing of requests for goods and services in accordance with IRC standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement:
    • Review and process Purchase Requisitions/Item Forecasts.
    • Ensure full documentation and traceability of procurements.
    • Issue RFQs, RFPs, and other sourcing tools to vendors.
    • Coordinate deliveries with suppliers and requesters.
    • Participate in vendor performance reviews and market surveys.
    • Maintain a database of reliable suppliers.
    • Prepare and submit periodic reports.
  • Reporting:
    • Prepare and submit monthly activity and commitment status reports.
  • Systems Compliance and Improvement:
    • Ensure compliance with IRC policies and procedures.
    • Report any violations of IRC’s Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Code of Conduct.
  • Confidentiality:
    • Maintain confidentiality of IRC practices and business.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requirements:
    • University degree in Procurement, Business Administration, Financial Accounting, Logistics, or related field (CIPS qualification is an advantage).
    • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
    • At least 3 years’ experience in supply chain management in a multicultural environment.
    • Good communication and staff management skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with procurement ERP systems.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to remain productive under pressure.
    • Knowledge of procurement principles and contract management.
    • Commitment to IRC’s aims and standards of professional conduct.
