About Organisation:
The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project is a midstream development located across Uganda and Tanzania that includes a nearshore marine storage and export terminal (MST). Once completed, the EACOP Company will operate the East African Crude Oil Pipeline, a 1,443 km long, electrically heated crude oil export pipeline that transports oil from Kabaale – Hoima in Uganda to the Chongoleani Peninsula near Tanga Port in Tanzania for crude export to international markets.
Job Summary: The Graduate Trainee in the Projects Team handling the construction at the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), will support the Projects and Construction team in day-to-day activities across various phases of the pipeline construction, including planning, coordination, progress monitoring, quality control, and safety compliance. The position offers the opportunity to gain first-hand experience working on a large-scale construction site and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, contractors, environmental and safety experts, and logistics personnel.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in tracking the progress of construction activities to ensure alignment with project schedules and milestones.
- Support site supervision efforts, including monitoring contractor performance and ensuring adherence to construction plans, specifications, and safety protocols.
- Participate in regular site inspections and prepare construction progress reports, daily logs, and issue tracking summaries.
- Help coordinate between different project teams (engineering, HSE, logistics, procurement) to ensure smooth execution of construction tasks.
- Support in identifying and documenting any delays, risks, or construction issues, and contribute to the development of mitigation measures.
- Participate in construction meetings, take minutes, and follow up on assigned action points.
- Assist in the review and management of construction documents such as method statements, ITPs (Inspection and Test Plans), and work permits.
- Help prepare and update construction schedules, tracking key project activities and resource allocation.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, construction management, or a related field
- A strong interest in construction project management, civil engineering, or related fields.
- Willingness to travel to construction sites and participate in field activities.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- A proactive attitude with strong problem-solving skills.
