About USAID Project:
USAID’s Local Partner Health Services – Kigezi & Lango is a five-year Activity implemented by Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC). The activity is aimed at supporting the continuation of technical assistance for the implementation of a district-based, integrated package of quality HIV/AIDS and TB services to the beneficiary population in the Nine districts in Lango sub-region. The main goal of the activity is to increase the availability, accessibility and utilization of quality, integrated HIV and TB services. Additionally, the Activity will temporarily support lifesaving activities in the Ankole and Acholi regions
Job Summary: The Locum HIV/TB Specialist (PMTCT/EID) will work in collaboration with the program/district teams to ensure technical soundness of the PMTCT/EID program. She/he will provide technical oversight for prioritized lifesaving PMTCT/EID services to Pregnant and Lactating mother in care and their exposed infants within the Ankole/Acholi regions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate strategic work planning and implementation of strategies aligned to provision of quality PrEP in MCH, Maternal testing/retesting, EID testing and ART management for pregnant & Lactating mother and their exposed infants.
- Coordinate program and district/site team’s implementation of Integrated EPI/EID outreaches
- Work with the Locum Community & PSS advisor to ensure standardized appointment tracking & Return to Care systems, Treatment literacy & PSS support for pregnant & Lactating mother in care.
- Support Viral load & quality of care monitoring and Viral load non-suppression/treatment failure management for pregnant and Lactating mothers in care.
- Work with the locum Logistics advisor and cluster team to ensure optimal availability of ARVs for pregnant and lactating mothers and exposed infants., HIV testing & viral load kits, Quality of Care commodities for access to AHD, Cancer Cervix and NCD screening, monitoring and management services.
- Participate in routine data analysis, performance review and data usage to inform quality improvement initiatives for pregnant and Lactating mothers and their exposed infants.
- Spearhead development of master concepts, costed work plans and Activity reports as per stipulated timelines.
- Contribute to documentation of best PMTCT/EID best learnings, success stories and abstracts in the supported districts/region.
- Perform any other duties as assigned or coordinated by the supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor of Medicine & General Surgery or Diploma in Clinical Medicine with Project management/Masters in Public Health as an added advantage
- Recent work experience of a minimum of five years with HIV/TB programs
- Willingness to work and travel in rural settings in Uganda.
- Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills
- Computer proficiency in word, excel and power point
