Job Summary: Deloitte (Uganda) Limited currently has exciting opportunities for four (4) innovative, agile, driven, engaging and proactive individuals to join our Tax & Legal department as Tax Interns and entry level Associates under our Graduate Training Programme. These positions will be based in our Kampala office in Uganda.
Job Description
The successful candidates will ensure that client and Firm’s expectations are met by delivering high quality services and maintaining high utilization levels.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: What you will do
- Under guidance, support the delivery of designated tax engagements/projects, and managing the implementation of agreed deliverables;
- Assist in the preparation of proposals/tenders and making of presentations to clients;
- Generate innovative solutions on projects/engagements in collaboration with team members to enhance/renew service offerings to clients;
- Assist in developing knowledge of current tax matters across the tax function;
- Deliver client service according to relevant Deloitte standards, policies, and ethical principles;
- Collect, assimilate, and analyze relevant data using standard tools and data visualizations to help surface insights and solutions;
- Support in the development of new tax products and market new products;
- Assist to draft tax opinions, tax advice and tax computations;
- Build and maintain relationships with clients and the Uganda Revenue Authority;
- Liaise with the relevant regulatory bodies such as Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) on various tax and policy matters;
- Assist clients to resolve URA audits and statements of accounts issues and prepare objections and appeals to URA assessments;
- Learn and apply Deloitte standards, procedures, and methodologies on assignments;
- Ensure assigned work is completed within agreed time frames and carried out per approved methodologies and standards and within agreed budgets;
- Ensure availability of accurate and timely data on assigned tasks as required including using available knowledge sources optimally;
- Keep abreast with technical developments in the profession and the country, in order to anticipate client needs, and offer value added and practical business solutions;
- Raise issues with Manager as identified in area of focus that may affect the quality of data and delivery or timelines of the engagement;
- Develop productive working relationships with client staff;
- Manage information security risk in area of client engagement in alignment with Deloitte policies;
- Maintain own development and knowledge in specialized area; and
- Any other duties that may be required from time to time.

- Tax laws and rules – Develops knowledge of current tax legislation across the Global Tax and Legal function.

- Analytical thinking and problem solving – Collects, assimilates, and analyzes data and uses standard processes and tools to help surface and support solutions for solving problems in the Tax and Legal business.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Law, or related field with a minimum of Second-Class Upper Division from a recognized university;
- Pursuing or possess a recognized accounting qualification such Certified Public Accountants (CPA) or Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), Post Graduate Diploma in Tax (PGD Tax) or Advanced Diploma in International Taxation (ADIT), Certified Tax Advisor (CTA), is an added advantage;
- A minimum of 16 points at ‘A’ Level or equivalent;
- A first grade in ‘O’ Level (with at least credit 3 in English and Mathematics) or equivalent;
- Be interested in pursuing a career in Taxation;
- Having graduated in 2023, 2024 or hope to graduate in 2025, a letter of completion or complete testimonial should be attached to your application;
- Good knowledge of various local tax laws;
- Availability to report for work 1 September 2025;
- Tax experience in an international professional services or tax advisory firm is an added advantage; and
- Be a Ugandan citizen or eligible to work in Uganda.
