Systems Administrator Human Capital Business Solutions Ltd

The System Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. They ensure high levels of availability, performance, and security of the infrastructure that supports core business operations. They also support cybersecurity practices and involves responding to service outages and other problems, implementing system upgrades, and providing second- and third-level support.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. System Management
  • Install, configure, and maintain servers, both physical and virtual (Windows/Linux environments).
  • Monitor system performance using appropriate tools and proactively tune systems for optimal efficiency.
  • Ensure data backups and system recovery protocols are in place and tested regularly.
  1. User and Access Management
  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policies, user profiles, and file permissions.
  • Administer user access rights and ensure compliance with security policies.
  1. Network & Security
  • Collaborate with network engineers to manage firewall, switches, and other network
  • hardware/software.
  • Train users on security policies, phishing awareness, and safe computing practices.
  • Monitor and respond to cybersecurity incidents and vulnerabilities.
  • Apply OS patches, firmware updates, and security configurations across systems.

  • Deploy and maintain enterprise applications including ERP systems (e.g., SAP), email servers, antivirus, and productivity tools.
  • Support application integration with back-end systems and troubleshoot performance issues.
  1. Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for system configurations, standard operating procedures, and support processes.
  • Generate regular reports on system health, incidents, and compliance metrics.

  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support to resolve technical issues escalated by the helpdesk or IT support team.
  • Assist in IT onboarding/offboarding processes including device setup and account provisioning.
  1. IT Projects & Upgrades
  • Participate in planning and implementation of IT infrastructure projects (e.g., system migrations, cloud deployments).
  • Evaluate new technologies and contribute to strategic IT initiatives.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience as a System Administrator or similar role.
  • Certifications in cybersecurity or systems such as MCSA/MCSE, CompTIA Server+, Linux+, CCNA, or equivalent is highly desirable.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong experience with Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, and Group Policy.
  • Proficiency with Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat) environments.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms like VMware, Hyper-V, or Proxmox.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity tools (e.g., antivirus, firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM)
  • Familiarity with networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs) and firewall/security tools.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery systems (e.g., Veeam, Acronis).
  • Scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) is an added advantage.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.
