Job Summary: The Travel Insurance Officer is responsible for selling travel insurance products to individuals, families, and businesses, providing excellent customer service, and meeting sales targets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: The following key outputs are required from this role.
- Sell travel insurance products to customers through various channels (online, phone, in-person and through partners)
- Build and maintain relationships with existing clients and identify new business opportunities
- Provide excellent customer service, answering questions and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner
- Conduct market research to stay up to date on industry trends and competitor activity
- Meet or exceed sales targets and contribute to the growth of the travel insurance business
- Collaborate with other teams (underwriting, claims and finance) to ensure seamless customer experience
- Develop and maintain knowledge of travel insurance products, including policy terms, conditions, and exclusions
- Develop prospects into new GI business and thus promote business growth
- Establish and cultivate relationships with intermediaries, clients and other UAP business partners.
- Assist the Business Development Officer – GI to execute the GI business Development strategic initiatives.
- Use and update the reporting format daily with activities undertaken by self or as advised by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, finance, marketing)
- At least 2 years of experience in sales, insurance, or a related field
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong sales and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn insurance software
- Ability to meet sales targets and work in a fast-paced environment
- Basic knowledge of insurance principles and products
- Understanding of the Ugandan insurance market and regulations
- Familiarity with travel insurance products and industry trends
