Job Summary: The MEAL Assistant will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of a robust Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) system to ensure effective tracking of project performance. He/she will assist in planning M&E activities, collecting and analyzing data, ensuring accountability mechanisms are in place, and preparing timely reports to guide decision-making and learning.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement tools for data collection, analysis, and reporting in line with the project’s MEAL plan.
- Support the design and execution of baseline, midline, and endline evaluations.
- Monitor project activities and outputs to ensure alignment with project indicators and targets.
- Compile and review activity reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Track key performance indicators and provide regular updates to the project team.
- Support learning and reflection activities to improve project effectiveness and relevance.
- Maintain project databases and ensure data quality, integrity, and security.
- Build the capacity of field staff on MEAL tools and processes.
- Support accountability to project beneficiaries by implementing feedback and complaints mechanisms.
- Ensure compliance with donor and organizational MEAL requirements.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as, Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, social sciences, Economics, or a related discipline.
- A postgraduate diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation is an added advantage.
- Proven experience in M&E, data management, and documentation within the NGO or development sector
- Proven experience working with refugee and host communities is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills with demonstrated ability to interpret data for decision-making.
- Proficiency in M&E tools and software (e.g., Excel, KoboToolbox, ODK, SPSS, etc.).
- Motorcycle riding skills with a valid riding permit is mandatory.
- Willingness to work in rural communities.
- Knowledge of local languages spoken in the project area
