Kulika Uganda is a non-profit making organisation registered with the NGO- Board is a brainchild of Kulika UK which started in 1981. It was founded by Patricia Brenninkmeyer who had been a social worker in Uganda.
Job Summary: The Project Field Officer shall support the delivery of non-formal skills training, life skills, and entrepreneurship development for out-of-school youth. They will work with local artisans and training providers to facilitate DIT assessments, promote innovation in trades, and support the growth of group-based income-generating projects, contributing to sustainable livelihoods in the target communities.. The officer will also support the development and implementation of Kulika Uganda strategies for skills development income generation and livelihood improvement. He/she will plan, direct and coordinate these activities and ensure the growth of group business projects.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Project Implementation & Coordination; Lead planning and execution of non-formal skills training and entrepreneurship activities.
- Sustainability & Business Development; Support the growth and sustainability of youth-led income-generating groups and enterprises.
- Product Marketing & Sales Promotion; Guide product development, branding, and market access strategies for youth and artisans.
- Community Engagement & Mobilization; Ensure inclusive participation of youth, local leaders, and communities in project activities.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships; Build strong networks with government, private sector, artisans, and training institutions.
- Monitoring, Reporting & Knowledge Management; Document project progress, success stories, and lessons learned; ensure timely reporting and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Microfinance, Entrepreneurship, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in implementing livelihood or skills development projects, preferably within the NGO or development sector.
- Demonstrated experience working with refugee and host communities is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to design and implement community-based projects within tight timelines.
- Practical understanding of youth entrepreneurship, vocational skilling, and informal training approaches.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Willingness to work in rural and hard-to-reach areas with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of local languages spoken in the project areas is an added advantage.
