Job Summary: Provide overall leadership in quality assurance and best practices to the department and the university by monitoring and ensuring uniform standards and spearheading the development and implementation of university-wide quality assurance initiatives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Link the University to national and international universities, organizations, and agencies/associations engaged in quality assurance innovations and initiatives in line with the university’s strategic plan.
  • Formulate, the framework and tools for assessment of academic staff teaching quality by students and peers, and disseminate results to relevant academic staff, management, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor and guide quality assurance of the academic and administrative services across the university.
  • Ensure that the university has reliable controls for quality assurance in all its operations.
  • Keep the University Council, Management and Vice Chancellor informed about quality assurance matters.
  • Provide accurate and reliable data to the senior management team for various purposes such as submission to the Government of Uganda, NCHE, other regulatory bodies, and external audit teams when necessary.
  • Serve in the University Senate as a member.
  • Support the process of assessing the university’s compliance with the approved relevant policies, regulations and laws and ensure the provision of feedback on various quality assurance matters.
  • Responsible for the operational, management, and support of academic standards and quality ii) enhancements across the University.
  • Initiate the institutional review Programme, self and peer assessment, and design strategies for managing and enhancing quality in line with the University’s quality assurance policy.
  • Provide professional advice to the council and other university decision making organs.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A Master’s degree in Quantitative Economics, Statistics, Business Administration or Education Management from a recognized institution.
  • An Honours Bachelor’s degree from a reputable institution of higher learning.
  • A postgraduate qualification in management is an added advantage.
  • A certificate in any of the following will be an added advantage:
  • ISO Standards
  • Total Quality Management Systems (TQMS)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
  • Experience in curriculum development, education evaluation, and/or research will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • Must have an excellent record of administration and/or teaching/ research and service in the Private sector, of not less than eight (8) years, three (3) of which must be at a senior managerial level.

  • Analytical and data-driven decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Capability to operate in multi-disciplinary environments.
