NCBA Bank Uganda Limited, is a commercial bank in Uganda. It is one of the commercial banks licensed by the Bank of Uganda, the country’s central bank and national banking regulator.

 

Job Summary: The purpose of this role is to provide continuous independent oversight over the implementation of the bank’s Market, Liquidity, Credit and Country risk management policies ad processes. The role will be required to support the identification and evaluation of Market, liquidity, credit and country risks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting the achievement of profitability of the bank through management / cost savings of set departmental budgets
  • Provide regular reporting as required on the level and status of credit and liquidity risk management for the Bank to RMC, EXCOM, ALCO, BCC and quarterly to BRMC.
  • Independent review of the total loan book for the Bank on a monthly basis against established requirements / policy standards.
  • Identify potential areas of credit and liquidity risk vulnerability and provide guidance on how to mitigate the risks identified and follow up to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Continuous review of securities held against all new advances to ensure compliance to the Credit Risk Policy and Policy Guidelines and the Central Bank prudential guidelines.
  • Monthly review of regulatory credit related reports of the Bank.
  • Interpret regulatory guidelines and internal policies / guidelines and develop periodic processes / procedures to facilitate financial risk analysis and reporting on a daily and monthly basis.
  • Ensure compliance of Global Market’s trading activities with internal policies, regulatory guidelines and market best practices through independent monitoring and oversight and action exceptions related to trading losses, breaches of risk limits and other Bank policies and guidelines.
  • Independent Price Validation of all revaluation rates.
  • Maintain a historical database on yields, volatilities etc. within the trading and investment books of the Bank.
  • Validate ALCO reports.
  • Assess the risk profile of new products within the trading and investment books.
  • Drive customer satisfaction through adherence of set SLAs and issuing stakeholders timely feedback.
  • Responsible for delivering the performance objectives set and managing own learning and development to build capacity and be available for coaching and training opportunities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Mathematics, Finance, Banking, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration (With a major in Finance) or similar quantitative disciplines.

Professional:

  • A risk related professional qualification is an added advantage.

Desired work experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in banking and/or finance.
