Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee lifting operations onsite per lifting plans and OML’s Lifting Management System (LMS)
  • Conduct daily toolbox talks and pre-lift risk assessments with crane operators, riggers, and HSE teams
  • Verify ground conditions, crane setup, sling/shackle integrity, and load charts before lifts Inspect equipment, maintain lifting gear registers and certification logs
  • Lead incident and near miss reporting; document corrective actions and lessons learned
  • Collaborate with procurement and contractors for lifting gear; support periodic lifting audits and performance reporting
  • Submit daily lifting reports; compile and forward weekly/monthly summaries to management

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Certification: Certified Lifting Supervisor (e.g., LEEA, APLO, OPITO) — LEEA preferred
  • Experience: 3-5 years’ hands-on field experience in oil & gas or heavy construction lifting operations

Technical Expertise:

  • Proficient with mobile, crawler & overhead cranes
  • Expert in rigging gear, load charts, lifting plans, and ground condition assessment Strong risk-assessment and HSE compliance skills
  • Documentation:
  • Up-to-date resume
  • Certificate(s) of competence (in lifting supervision)
  • Certificate of Good Conduct (Interpol or national equivalent) – mandatory for work permit processing in Uganda
  • Immigration-ready: Able to provide temporary passport or valid passport to facilitate work permit application
