Job Summary: The Project Assistant -Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) will provide grass roots project implementation, monitoring and documentation and participation in line with Child Protection and MHPSS global standards. The incumbent will also be responsible for the smooth, cost effective, efficient and timely implementation of MHPSS activities particularly; facilitating EASE sessions while integrating child protection and participation. The incumbent will also be responsible for documenting MHPSS needs within the area of allocation as documentation of success and lessons.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Activity implementation

  • Regular updates and monitoring of the Child Protection and MHPSS activities ensure technical support to Nurture Care Groups and the d Child Protection Committee.
  • Support community-based child protection and MHPSS structures, children’s groups, and stakeholders in advocating for child protection and participation, and MHPSS interventions.
  • Facilitate the integration of child protection, MHPSS, and social cohesion activities within the refugee settlements and host communities.
  • Provide technical support during projects design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting
  • Mobilize community meetings with children and key stakeholders at all implementation levels to achieve Child protection and MHPSS outcomes.
  • Build the capacity of community structures, and volunteers to support child protection and MHPSS using World Vision Models (NCG and EASE)
  • Facilitate case management, and data collection in line with the required and approved standards for child protection and MHPSS.
  • Collect and compile statistical data and information regarding caregivers, community members, and children’s participation in activities in child protection and MHPSS activities.
  • Mobilize communities to identify children with disabilities, and psychological distress and model families for the project’s implementation.
  • Develop, monthly, quarterly, and annual project management reports and submit them to the relevant authorities.
  • Conduct case management for POCs with psychosocial problems, referrals and follow ups while coordinating and collaborating with other service providers.

Technical support and Capacity Building

  • Organize and conduct monthly meetings with community structures (CPCs, Parents, volunteers) and children on child protection, positive parenting, child participation, and MHPSS
  • Mentor and build the capacity of children, community, and community structures in child protection, positive parenting, MHPSS, and the learning framework using approved approaches and models.
  • Support communities, community structures, partners, and children in maintaining the minimum standards for child participation and MHPSS.
  • Develop tools to manage data and information collection and analysis in establishing and maintaining a Monitoring and Evaluation adherences
  • Document impact and success stories evidenced with quality pictures to share milestones with staff, partners, and donors.
  • Regular updates and monitoring of the Child Protection and MHPSS to ensure technical support is given regarding playing equipment and materials as per the global minimum standards.
  • Facilitate communities to fully participate in project activities for enhanced community ownership, peaceful coexistence, and sustainability.
  • Facilitate advocacy forums led by children on issues affecting them. The forums are aimed at awareness creation and sensitization of communities

Networking, Coordination, and Collaboration

  • Actively participate in coordination meetings in the Zones of allocation
  • Support all referral needs that may arise from time to time in the community and ensure that all children referred for any services are well documented and follow-up is done.
  • Represent the organization in Zonal sector meetings and cluster coordination meetings giving updates and the progress of implementation and establishing strategic partnerships with other organizations.
  • Establish and liaise closely with other, partners, agencies, and local leaders regarding project activities to ensure a coordinated approach to project implementation, including participation in relevant workshops, and meetings and keep the Facilitator informed.
  • Develop a network of information gathering relevant to child protection, participation, and MHPSS interventions.
  • Establish appropriate contacts with local counterparts at the Sub counties and district level.

Financial Management, Budget Control, and Monitoring

  • Prepare and submit timely monthly payment requisitions for community structures, and volunteers in line with World Vision financial policy requirements
  • Prepare and submit all payment requisitions for activities conducted within 3 days from the last day of an activity.
  • Prepare concept notes, project activity budgets, expenditure, preparation of activity quarterly financial and narrative reports as per the grant guidelines, and submit them within the agreed timeframes.
  • Preparation of payment advance and purchase requests for appropriate project transactions in line with approved M&E documents.
  • File all accountability and attendance lists in line with audit requirements

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • At least three years of field experience working with communities in child protection and MHPSS programming and program management in an NGO context.
  • Past exposure and experience with integrated Child Protection and MHPSS operations in humanitarian context.
  • Past experience in working with communities
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, problem solving, interpersonal ad negotiation skills
  • Working knowledge of humanitarian industry including sphere standards, NGO code of conduct and humanitarian charter
  • Very strong communication skills
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle.
  • Possess the ability to work with different partners, local authorities, local organizations and NGOs to develop and maintain positive relationships
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible world view, emotional maturity and physical stamina
  • Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, psychological stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources
  • Ability to cope and deal with stress and work under stressful work conditions is required
