Programmes Manager Faith for Family Health initiative (3FHi)

3FHi is an inter-faith national NGO, run by technical staff with support from Board Members who are eminent faith leaders and scholars in Uganda. We envision a better family health and wellbeing through the action of the local faith community. We exist to strengthen grassroots inter-faith collaborations for better family health and wellbeing. Our primary beneficiaries are Women, Children and Adolescents (WCA). We leverage on the convening power and authority of faith leaders to provide positive local solutions to policy, structural and normative challenges to WCA health in Uganda. Faith for Family Health Initiative (3FHi) is a sub grantee of the USAID/Uganda Civil Society Strengthening Activity a USAID funded project primed by EAST WEST MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE. We are in the process of hiring a programmes Manager. In consultation with East West Management Institute, we are seeking for interested competent candidates to Apply for the above vacancy. Job Details
The Programme Manager is part of Senior Management Team. (S)He works in close cooperation with the Executive Director, and Programme and Advocacy Advisor.

General Responsibilities: The Programme Manager:
a) Provide, deal and engage in strategic programmatic decisions and actions.
b) Ensure effective and efficient planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes and projects
c) Undertake documentation of project results and approaches to support learning and skills application
d) Operationalize project strategic goals and objectives.
e) Supervise project staff across all projects.
f). Support fundraising, partnership building and resource mobilization.

Specific Responsibilities:
Organisational development

▪

Guide the development and review of programme strategies and annual operational
plans and ensure their effective delivery in line with the strategic plan.
▪ In consultation with the Executive Director, Programme and Advocacy Advisor and key programme staff
▪ Identify opportunities for expansion and strengthening of 3FHi programmes and advocacy in line with her strategic priorities.
▪ Support development and implementation of organisational strategies, policies and procedures.
▪ Support the Executive Director in staffing decisions.

Management

▪ Ensure the development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of programmes and projects in-line with 3FHi strategic plan indicators.
▪ In close collaboration with the Finance Office, ensure effective management and application of project budgets in line with the projects budget, donor regulations and project documents.
▪ Supervise programme staff by providing direction and leadership.
▪ In close collaboration with the Executive Director, and Programme and Advocacy
Advisor develop and maintain relationships with key technical staff within donors & NGOs, to gain an understanding of their priorities, and secure support for 3FHi mission work.
▪ Contribute and support resource mobilisation efforts

Operational responsibilities
▪ Ensure quality input and timely submission of programme and donor reports, concept notes, proposals, and other documents.
▪ Ensure active participation in technical and sector working groups. This includes presentation and sharing of good practices and other relevant information to duty bearers, government officials, key managers and coordinators.
▪ Communicate regularly with the Programme and Advocacy Advisor to ensure smooth implementation of the projects.
▪ Oversee the development and implementation of appropriate tools and other project related guidelines for improved programme implementation, monitoring and impact assessment.
▪ In close collaboration with the Programme and Advocacy Advisor ensure proper documentation of project work including best practice, evaluation reports, etc.
▪ Lead 3FHi’s collaboration and representation within CSO networks, government agencies and departments at all levels for policy advocacy, sharing of information and good practices.
▪ Undertake regular visits to project sites; provide technical support and oversight for project coordinators & project leads.
▪ In close collaboration with the Executive Director, Programme and Advocacy Advisor and Human Resource and Administration, ensure the development and implementation of training and coaching programmes
▪ Any other duties assigned by the Executive Director.

Minimum Requirements:
▪ A successful candidate must possess a Master’s degree in Public Health and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or humanities with at least seven (7) years’ experience in project management in NGO/development agency setting, three (3) of which must be in Senior Management.
▪ In-depth understanding of health policy and programming issues at sub national, national and global levels.
▪ Hands on experience in design and management of advocacy projects and development programmes.
▪ Post graduate training in Monitoring and Evaluation related fields is desirable. Good networking and capacity building skills, very good communication and report writing skills
▪ Team management experience.
▪ Ability to work independently and within a team.
▪ High level of personal integrity.
