Country Manager Prime Impex

Prime Impex is the leading supplier of office furniture, equipment and stationery in Uganda and has been providing quality office furniture for clientele in Uganda for 20 years.

The Role
Prime Impex is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, with a proven track record in leading and managing vibrant business, to serve as Country Manager

In this role, you will be responsible for providing leadership, direction and oversight to the organization’s business operations, its employees, equipment and facilities. You will have overall responsibility to ensure the financial health, well-being, image and profitable growth of the organization consistent with policies and practices adopted by the Board.

The successful candidate should possess strong leadership and communication skills. He/she should be an effective team builder with proven capability in strategic thinking and direction, as well as be a successful deliverer of profitable growth. The candidate should also be pragmatic, hardworking and tactically astute in managing a complex business with innovative sales and marketing skills.

Key Responsibilities
● Form an understanding of the company’s mission, vision and values and get up to speed with how the business operates (product categories, sales channels, working environment, cost structures etc.).
● Form an independent assessment of the suitability of the structure of the current organization for the needs of the business, and lead a restructuring process if required.
● Draw up commercial growth plans and get Board sign-off around the following:
• Retail – Branch profitability, branch network and expansion opportunities, branch optimization, customer experience, merchandising, branch product mix etc.
• Channel segmentation, channel growth opportunities, sales team restructuring, performance measurement, benchmarking etc.
● Form an understanding of the culture of the organization and develop a culture improvement plan (if required).
● Inventory management and optimization – Develop and execute an inventory management and inventory optimization program that covers:
• A category by category review of stock holdings, supplier reviews, slow moving stocks and new product offerings.
• Inventory optimization across branches.
• Margin optimization.
● Develop and start the execution of category specific growth plans and identify new product categories that could be added to the company’s portfolio.
● Implement a the new Group-wide ERP system into Uganda along with watertight systems, processes and controls
● Report to the Board of Directors on a monthly basis

Skills & Experience
● Bachelor’s degree in business, business operations, finance or related field, or equivalent work or educational experience required.
● Minimum of seven years’ experience leading operations and multi-site service teams at a reputable organization with P&L responsibility and a strong track record of achievement, ideally in a high growth context.
● Minimum of five years in senior management and/or executive leadership roles required.
● A track record of achievement in building and coaching teams to high performance levels using positive reinforcement, while providing clear feedback.
● Demonstrable experience transforming a vision into fully rationalized service, sales, operations and delivery.
● Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive consensus.
● Ability to assess and implement organizational changes.
● Ability to plan, organize and implement projects in a timely manner.
● Ability to work independently and as a team member.
