Healthy Entrepreneurs (HE) is a social enterprise based in Uganda. The organization has similar activities in Tanzania, Kenya, DRC, Burkina Faso, and Burundi. HE specializes in the implementation of last mile distribution models of reliable products and information that enhance health and the quality of life for people living in hard to reach and remote areas.

 

HE aims to contribute to solve social issues and improve access to basic health commodities and services by developing and implementing sound commercial business models. HE is implementing its franchise model via 13000 Community Health Entrepreneurs (our customers) in 60 districts of Uganda today. We are looking forward to getting more insight in our performance, impact and outcomes through data and management information.

 

Job Summary:   If you would like to make difference in the lives of many, Healthy Entrepreneurs Uganda offers you a unique professional opportunity. As a Data Analyst you will support Healthy Entrepreneurs by creating, evaluating, interpreting, and optimizing data sets to improve our business processes and decisions. You will be responsible for the analysis of data as defined by the department managers with whom you will be working closely.

 

The Data Analyst will report to the Global Business/Data Analyst, also based in Kampala.

 

Given the growing area of data analytics within the company, s/he may also be working closely with the Country Manager, Sales Manager, IT Manager and/or the Performance, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Lead.

 

Healthy Entrepreneurs is moving to use data more critically, in our routine and strategic management decisions. Due to the large volume of data collected in our ERP system (Odoo), patient system (ClickMedix) and call center management system (Xcally), Healthy Entrepreneurs needs improved cross-sectional reports. To that end, you will perform data management and analytical work and complete high-priority projects across an array of domains and subject matter.

 

In addition, you will be an active member of the internal team, contributing to internal knowledge sharing, best practice development and team engagement. This is a great opportunity to use your existing data analysis skills, while growing your capabilities within diverse departments of a rapidly expanding organization.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  The main tasks and responsibilities, though not limited to, are:

  • Mapping and analyzing current data practices, identifying SWOTs.
  • Integrating and cross-analyzing indicators.
  • Maintaining accurate and clean data points (e.g., KOBO/PowerBI/Teams/Odoo).
  • Ensuring correct data storage and management.
  • Performing occasional data collection and cleaning.
  • Monitoring and developing Power BI reports.
  • Handling analytics projects, including routine and integrated management reports.
  • Providing analytical insights to various departments.
  • Identifying, evaluating, and documenting existing and potential data sources.
  • Utilizing statistical tools and techniques for data analysis and interpretation.
  • Creating data visualizations using SPSS, Kobo, Teams, Power BI, and Excel
  • Presenting and documenting data analysis results effectively.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Finance, Business analytics or related degree.
  • Fluency in English is required. Fluency in Luganda will be considered an advantage.
  • At least three years of analytical experience in Business, Sales, and Operations.
  • Professional experience in health-related sectors will be an advantage.
  • Relevant experience with logistics and distribution will be a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite –Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including Macros, VBA, Power Pivot and Power Query.
  • Advanced knowledge of data collection methods and packages such as KOBO, ODK, CommCare.
  • Advanced knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI, QlikSense, QGIS, R Shiny Dashboard or Tableau.

 

Added advantage for those with:

  • Experience or expertise with at least one data analysis software package such as IBM SPSS Statistics, R, Python or Stata.
  • Experience or expertise with statistical methods that includes descriptive and inferential statistics.

  • Practical knowledge of data manipulation, mining, visualization, and statistics.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills in English.

  • Excellent creative and innovative problem-solving skills.
