The Mukwano Group of Companies is the leading manufacturer of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) in the Great Lakes region, producing a wide range of market leader brands in soaps, edible cooking oils and fats, detergents, beverages, personal care products and plastics.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation of new machines in the plant.
  • Diagnose and attend to all mechanical faults and breakdowns.
  • Conduct preventive, autonomous, breakdown maintenance.
  • Report and assist in the analysis of incidents or potential hazards.
  • Monitor and record the use of workplace consumables and make requisitions where required.
  • Use and maintain workshop tools in accordance to working conditions and specifications.
  • Daily check and confirm that machines meet safety standards.
  • Plans and develops work schedules, equipment usage schedules and procedures for equipment maintenance.
  • Prepare daily maintenance reports for submission to the Mechanical Supervisor and Production Officer.
  • Provide operational support to the Machine Operators.
  • Participate in daily housekeeping practices.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Higher or Ordinary Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or any related discipline.
  • At least three years of experience of electrical repair and maintenance which includes one year of supervisory experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of Mechanical components and its applications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Mechanical maintenance, production processes and controls logic.
  • Possess strong mechanical aptitude, mathematical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Self-motivated with excellent personnel management skills.
  • Ability to handle multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent team player and has the ability to manage time in an efficient manner.
