Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the QC Leader in respect of all technical (procedural/operational) issues relating to the Inspection function.
  • Ensure that all aspects of Inspection are effectively carried out and that all technical specifications follow statutory regulations and Company standards.
  • Ensure that all work undertaken is appropriately supervised and executed safely and in accordance with Company safety procedures.
  • Supervise inspection personnel contracted through third party organizations to ensure their performance is compatible with the project’s requirements.
  • Undertake Inspection tasks and report results as required.
  • Review/comment and approve contractor documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure that all Inspection staff on site are fully conversant with and have access to the relevant specifications and codes of practice.
  • Liaise with Contractor Inspection teams to resolve any issues.
  • Issuing and follow up of nonconformance and corrective action reports.
  • Ensure that all nonconformities are resolved, track trends and make recommendations to the QC Leader North and Project Management Team.
  • Realize necessary Quality control activities ensuring all the records are properly issued and filed.
  • Maintain good relationships with Contractors/Subcontractors, whilst ensuring the necessary controls are in place to achieve the objectives of the Project.
  • Report activities which may have a detrimental effect on schedule and cost to the QC Leader South and Project Management Team.
  • Compile necessary reports (daily/weekly/monthly) related to his/her discipline and scope for the QC Leader South and Deputy Construction Manager/Construction Manager
  • Preparing daily reports incorporating major aspects
  • Review Contractor deliverables for Civil and Structural Engineering
  • Participate to technical meetings & Project meetings as and when required.
  • Follow up on Inspections and Tests carried out by Suppliers and Contractors for Civil and Structural Scope
  • Review & approve civil and structural works on site
  • Support the QC Leader in respect of all technical (procedural/operational) issues relating to the Inspection function.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Education: HNC or equivalent in an Engineering discipline or equivalent
  • Experience in Civil Engineering, Construction Civil/Structural
  • An analytical mind, organizational rigor, holistic approach, tenacity, capabilities to demonstrate good leadership within a team to produce a safe, efficient well run through operations; ability to adapt, to analyze problems and communicate with many entities.
  • Knowledge / understanding of current legislation pertaining to Environmental Protection, Health and Safety at Work, Waste Management
  • Ability to work on own initiative, remaining self-confident and solid under pressure, demonstrating logical thought patterns, high degree of organizational ability and be an effective communicator at all levels.
  • Confident user of AutoCAD, MS Office products and OS Windows
  • Self-motivated, autonomous and proactive in carrying out the activities of the job.
  • Always adheres to the values and principles of the Company.
  • Ability to work under pressure and stressing conditions, ability to adapt, analyses problems and communicates with all entities, analytical mind, rigorous, holistic approach and tenacity. Able to write Standing Instructions and Procedures.
  • Active team player with ability to manage and integrate with others in different functions and environment.
  • Valid Medical Certificate which complies with company Standards.
