People Officer – Talent Pool VSO Uganda

Job Purpose: To provide HR Business partnering and resourcing support through implementation of HR policies, business systems, processes and tools to strengthen project delivery and successful implementation through improved productivity, workforce engagement, performance management and accountability.
Responsibilities:
• Manage offer process and contracting of VSO people in consultation with hiring managers.
• Maintain complete and up to date HR records for all staff ensuring accurate information on Salesforce and SharePoint HRIS for all VSO people
• Support managers induction and onboarding programs for all VSO people
• Update and format all HR templates and documents to ensure consistency with global policies and local labor law.
• Coordinate and ensure HR communication with internal and external parties is done in a timely manner.
• Update and produce relevant and accurate HR management information reports as may be required.
• Ensure VSO remains competitive in the local Labour market by supporting benchmarking processes and annual salary reviews
• Keep abreast with and avail all relevant documents such as policies, procedures, government regulations and labor laws as necessary to VSO people, ensuring compliance.
• Support internal and external sourcing, recruitment and selection processes for VSO people in line with VSO’s resourcing policy.
• Serve as the country office safeguarding focal person as well as support project teams with incident, security and safeguarding management.
• Lead and guide teams on all people relations issues and case management
• Promote a culture of high performance, customer service, creativity, positive communication, teamwork and collaboration.
• Accompany line managers to ensure that staff performance management process is carried out appropriately and documented in accordance with the organizational policy and procedure.
• Support HR requests from other HR/OD team members organizationally.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria (must have to be able to carry out the role successfully) Knowledge/qualifications:
• Relevant Formal HR Qualification or Equivalent Experience
• High level of computer skills (Windows, Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook, Internet HR Information system).

Experience:

• 3-4 years’ minimum HR experience as a generalist.
• Experience supporting managers to manage diverse teams
• Solid understanding of relevant HR legislation is essential
• Experience of recruitment and onboarding practices

• Ability to work confidentially at all times
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and attention to detail
• Flexibility to adapt, positive attitude towards change and constructive and creative approach to problem solving
• Ability to multi-task and prioritise multiple requests for support.

Desirable Criteria:
• Experience working with international Non-Government Organizations
