Credify is a credit only micro-finance institution regulated by Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority (UMRA). Founded in 2015 with a vision to be the preferred provider of credit to the burgeoning SME and trade finance space in Africa. Credify “Credit Simplified” operates with a mission to simplify credit by providing client centric services, reducing the paperwork and most importantly providing the quickest loan turnaround times.

As the Head of Operations of our dynamic startup, you’ll spearhead a mission-driven team dedicated to revolutionizing how goods move and finance flows in Africa. We’re tackling one of the most pressing challenges facing businesses on the continent: the lack of transparent logistics and accessible trade financing. You’ll have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of African commerce and empower millions of importers and exporters to thrive in the global marketplace.

 

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Head of Operations. Our Head of Operations will ensure we deliver a seamless, world-class customer experience for our SME clients while also ensuring our operations are set up in a scalable manner so that we can serve hundreds of thousands of clients. In this role you will take ownership of developing our operations strategy and then ensuring excellent implementation through deploying efficient processes, managing a team of reports and external stakeholders/partners, continually monitoring KPIs and operational risks. The Head of Operations will be a member of the Senior Management Team and will report to the CEO.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the company’s overall objectives, focusing on enhancing efficiency, scalability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Process Optimization: Continuously assess and refine operational processes to streamline workflows, improve productivity, and enhance the user experience on our platform.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of operations professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product development, sales, finance, and customer support to ensure alignment and drive operational excellence.
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track operational performance, analyse trends, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify operational risks and implement robust risk management protocols to mitigate potential threats to business continuity and compliance.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal quality assurance protocols to uphold the integrity and reliability of our trade solutions platform.
  • Vendor and Partner Management: Manage relationships with third-party vendors and strategic partners, negotiating contracts, monitoring service levels, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Maintenance of key partnerships with customs agents
  • Technology Integration: Collaborate with the technology team to evaluate,
  • implement, and optimize operational systems and tools to support the evolving needs of our platform and user base.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Operational Expertise: The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations management, with a deep understanding of supply chain logistics, trade finance, and related processes. They will have a track record of success in optimizing operations, streamlining workflows, and driving efficiency across complex systems.
  • Strategic Vision: We are looking for a strategic thinker who can see the big picture and develop innovative strategies to achieve our company’s goals. The ideal candidate will have the ability to anticipate market trends, identify growth opportunities, and develop actionable plans to capitalize on them.
  • Leadership Skills: As a key member of our executive team, the Head of Operations will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to our operations department and across the organization. They should be able to impart a growth mindset on teams that they lead.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in senior leadership roles, preferably in the logistics, finance industry or startup ecosystem.
  • Deep understanding of trade operations and supply chain management principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders experience managing teams
  • Demonstrated experience in driving process improvement initiatives and managing complex projects.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and utilization of technology to drive operational efficiency.
  • Strong understanding of African markets and regulatory environments (Experience and knowledge of the Customs regulations is plus)
