Environmental Officer Lafab Solutions

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate should have a degree in Botany and Zoology, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management or equivalent qualification in biological sciences and at least 5 years of relevant work experience, having worked at this level on similar building projects. As an Environmental Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting environmentally sustainable practices across all aspects of our operations.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement, and monitor environmental management plans for the project site.
• Identify potential environmental risks and hazards associated with project activities and develop measures to mitigate them.
• Conduct environmental assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and obtain necessary permits and approvals.
• Provide environmental training and education to project staff and subcontractors to raise awareness of environmental issues and promote sustainable practices.
• Monitor environmental performance and produce regular reports to management on progress towards environmental targets.
• Collaborate with project teams to integrate environmental considerations into project planning and decision-making.
• Conduct research on environmental best practices and trends to inform continuous improvement in our environmental performance.

Requirements:

• A degree in Botany and Zoology, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management or equivalent qualification in biological sciences.
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience as an Environmental Officer on similar building projects.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, policies, and standards.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to identify potential environmental risks and hazards and develop measures to mitigate them.
• Ability to conduct environmental assessments and audits and produce reports on environmental performance.
• Familiarity with environmental monitoring tools and techniques.
• Experience in delivering environmental training and education.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to project sites as needed.
