Job Summary: The Uganda Country Office is in process of developing a resilience strategy to provide guidance and coherence to activities the country and area offices develop along this thematic area. The UGCO is committed to supporting WFP’s transition from doer to enabler and the resilience strategy will clarify expectations around that objective as well as provide direction to units at CO and AO levels. This internship will provide administrative support for the various activities planned to develop and deliver the resilience strategy.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Activity 3 manager the intern will support the following:

  • Working closely with SP&R staff and external consultants. support and coordinate consultative meetings and workshops with the WFP country office, area offices and external partners
  • Support documentation of meeting and workshop discussions including drafting minutes, and ensuring they are channeled to the appropriate staff for recordkeeping.
  • Support WFP and consultants with the development of plans, meeting agendas and other as needed.
  • Support external consultants to obtain documents for literature review
  • Prepare periodic progress updates
  • Any other duties or tasks required by supervisor


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate for the United Nations UN World Food Programme (WFP) Business Support Assistant (Resilience Strategy) job placement must hold a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, business administration or related field
  • Demonstrable energy and enthusiasm to work in a demanding environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Time management and critical thinking skills
  • Good organization and planning skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Languages: Fluency in oral and written English, including strong writing skills
