Sign Language Interpreters x2 National Union of Women with Disabilities of Uganda (NUWODU)

Purpose of the job
The purpose of the Sign Language Interpreters is to support the effective performance of the NUWODU staff with hearing impairment in carrying out their duties and responsibilities through the provision of Sign Language Interpretation services and excellent communication in office and in the field.

Responsibilities and duties
• Bridge the communication gap between the Deaf staff, hearing staff and NUWODU Deaf beneficiaries to understand what is being said in the variety of situations in office and in the field.
• Ensure a conducive environment for interpretation services while conducting NUWODU activities.
• Assist NUWODU Deaf staff while making telephone calls in relationship to NUWODU work.
• Assist NUWODU staff with any added responsibilities as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Diploma holder in Sign Language Interpretation from a recognized university.
• Experience in serving as a Sign Language Interpreter in an organisation for at least 4 years.
• Background to social work, development work or program work will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of the local language for Amuria applicants will be an added advantage.
