Job Summary:  The Internal Auditor is responsible for performing routine internal audits for all Hospital functions in accordance with the relevant laws, regulations and guidelines.  The function involves   identifying function risks, collecting evidence and  preparing  comprehensive reports

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs internal audits i.e. preliminary survey, development of audit program, fieldwork, reporting, follow-up and audit documentation
  • Evaluate the adequacy of internal controls and processes and ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures;
  • Discusses deficiencies with auditees and recommends corrective actions to improve operations
  • Performs post-internal and external audit reviews to determine the extent to which audit recommendations have been implemented
  • Evaluates the progress of risk management practices and strategic planning process of the Hospital
  • Prepares appropriate audit working papers in respect of each audit assignment.
  • Verify responses by auditees to the issues raised by both Internal and External Auditors.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by the Senior Internal Auditor.

 

Ethical Conduct:

  • Act always in such a manner to promote and safeguard the interest Hospital
  • Perform all duties in accordance with all Hospital policies & procedures
  • Maintenance of a safe and acceptable environment for patients and staff and taking appropriate action to ensure reporting incidents/ accidents/ complaints.

Health &Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations according to hospital policies.
  • Monitor sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations.
  • In case of an accident or injury, seek medical attention immediately.
  • Report and document all incidences and near misses.

Confidentiality:

  • In the performance of the duties outlined in this Job Description, the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to the Hospital, Practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to information relating to the Practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential
  • Information relating to the Hospital and employees, may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the Practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of an honours Degree in Commerce or Business Administration or Finance and other relevant courses from a recognized University
  • Possession of ACCA or CPA level II or any other relevant professional qualification
  • A minimum of three (03) years of working experience in an auditing/accounting environment from a reputable Institution
