Sales & Pilot Manager PowerUP

PowerUP is making electric cooking affordable, accessible, and normal across Africa. We are a clean-tech company developing efficient appliances that reduce carbon emissions while delivering income and health benefits to our customers in Africa. PowerUP combines data analytics and behavioral science, and carbon finance to ensure our customized electric cookers are fully adopted to displace biomass and fossil fuels.

About the Role
The Sales & Pilot Manager will manage the field activities in PowerUP to ensure sales and pilot targets are met. They will build and manage a sales team to find suitable customers and support them on their journey of electric cooking even beyond the time of sales. They will execute pilots to better understand our customers and ensure they fully adopt our e-cooking solutions, starting with electric pressure cookers (EPCs). Key deliverables include executing pilot plans based on their design, reaching product utilization targets, and hitting sales targets.

Key Responsibilities:
Design, execute and iterate on sales pilots
• Collaborate with commercial and product teams to implement and iterate on pilots with the field team to increase units sold and product utilization
• Trial different behavior change techniques to increase product usage, including in-person and digital trainings, nudges, incentives and rewards
• Analyze the real-time and past data to improve performance levels
Own sales performance
• Set sales goals, manage performance to goals, and adjust goals as needed
• Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasts
• Create a sales plan and execute to ensure high quality sales
Manage sales team
• Recruit, hire, and train field agents
• Assess team processes and procedures, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement them
• Develop team targets and manage the commercial budget
• Manage individual and team performance to ensure pilots are performed as designed and sales quotas are met
• Assess individual performance through observation and measurement, and suggest corrective actions as needed

Required Experience:
• 2 years of experience of running pilots (example: pilots regarding price levels, loan repayment, customer satisfaction, referrals, etc…)
• Minimum of 5 years of experience of sales of last mile products in the field
• Experience in setting up direct distribution channels, hiring, and supervising sales teams
• Data analytics and results-oriented skills. Strong excel modeling is an added advantage
• Excellent team leadership skills
• University degree in a related field
