This is a highly matrixed role, as strategic communications objectives are embedded within the roles of many other EM2030 team members. The Head of Strategic Communications will need to be an experienced leader of teams, managing around 4 direct reports and a network of external communications vendors and suppliers. Key to the success of this role will be working with stakeholders across our team and partnership to co-create and collaborate on joint strategic communications efforts. At global level, the Head of Strategic Communications will lead a team that works to maximise the profile and impact of EM2030’s work, including communicating about the efforts of our partners and about our thought leadership, products and tools (such as the flagship SDG Gender Index) and helping to convene both in person and virtual events. The post holder will also play a key role in developing and supporting EM2030’s growth and funding strategy, ensuring that EM2030 is on the radar of key funders and potential collaborators and that we’re identifying and engaging our target audiences effectively.
Working closely with other team members and our partners, the Head of Communications & Engagement will devise and deliver a strategic communications workplan that leverages best strategic communications practices and knowledge and experience from across our partnership. The post holder will ensure our target audiences know about the work of Equal Measures 2030. The Head of Strategic Communications will also help ensure that EM2030 products and tools really get used to drive change on gender equality.
The role will suit someone with experience leading teams who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, and someone who values collaboration, flexibility, and nimbleness. You will be a person with patience and humility.
